Sachin Ithihas Tendulkar- Why he is the God to many
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar retired from all forms of cricket on 16th November 2013. Since then, I have been wanting to write about this little man who changed the way people look at the game of Cricket, how he influenced people from all across the globe and always proved that this game is truly a gentleman's game. Well, there was much of a hullabaloo since the time he announced his retirement from all forms of games, the one last to be played- his 200th (!!) Test match. Every single person on planet Earth wanted to write about The God of Cricket on how he has influenced their life and why it is gonna be difficult to live the cricket life without him. I did take a long while to pen down my own thoughts for two reasons. One, I found it very difficult for the reality to sink in, that my maestro has retired and Two, there were too many in queue to write about him (not that this stopped me!). A few of my colleagues even shared a blog or two about him which I refrained from reading not because of anything else but that I do not want to confront my own thoughts on him. Honestly, I have not read any posts/blogs on him till date.
Why is Sachin a icon? A global identity for the game of cricket which made Pepsi co to create an ad centering on him "Oh Sachin alare bayya" or for that fan of Sachin who is there in every single match, painted Sachin?
How did he influence so many? Well, he LIVED Cricket! That made the difference. To quote him, "I was breathing cricket, as my oxygen". When my boss had come to my campus for placements, during the pre placement talks, he inspired me with this simple story. 'Why do you think Sachin is very good at cricket, why isn't his age or any other factor stopping him from breaking records. It's simply because, he has the PASSION for the game!' Wow! Passion!! I have never thought about Passion in this angle, that this can be my drive to do anything I want, enjoy my work. I eventually cleared the placements and till date I believe that it was quoting Sachin that gave me the confidence to clear this interview! I do not say that I was otherwise a bad performer or that it was Sachin luck. It was like an eye opener, like opening the theater screen for the movie to start playing- showing me- hey, see this is where your passion lies!
I have always felt awe, when I see him hit a straight drive, I don't remember the number of times I replayed Sachin's Googly in taking Moin Khan's wicket, that focus when he holds the bat, when he is there at the crease, My god! It's just not possible to stay so focused when you have the whole world around you following your every single move. The way he handles the pressure from the fan club and performs, breaking his own records many a times is tremendous. A man who inspired me to do what I like and thanks to BCCI's #Thankyousachin, I have my digitally signed Tendulkar quoting "Chase your dreams, because they do come true!" I have this framed on my desk and I just have to look at it to bring back all my energy and to start working in top gear. It's difficult to come across such icons, who are humble, is a man of few words and let's his work do all the talking!
I bow infront of this icon for his Passion, his dedication, his focus and his belief. Thank you Sachin for being SACHIN!
Vive!!
ME MYSELF :)
