A Live Concert- Dream come true
"One Good thing about Music.. When it hits you, you feel no pain"
The legendary Bob Marley behind those wonderful words. How true indeed. I am a very good (bathroom) singer and enjoy listening to music in any form. I adore, respect, admire (Dictionary says all these mean one and the same) Alla Rakha Rahman. I adore him not just for his music, but for the person he is. The most humble and simple person who even after winning oscars made his signature statement "Ella pughazhum iraivanuke" (All praise belongs to God alone!) My playlist is overloaded with ARR's tunes than any other artist (may be a handful of others). The month of December 2015 was the music fest at Bangalore and Maestro was one of the artist to play in the event. I, for one, have never watched my music God play live before. My friends wanted me to go for this event. But I was a lot hesitant since I wanted my first live of the maestro to be an all exclusive event by him. I decided I will wait for it, though the chances were very meager considering his travel, scheduled performances outside the country.
11th December 2015, in came an announcement that ARR was performing live exclusive- venues to be disclosed. Late at night comes the update, ARR performing at Chennai and also at my home town COIMBATORE!!! For the first time!!! I was on cloud nine (cloud infinity) since I never expected my wish would be granted so soon! I knew I was attending this come what may. With all those enthusiasm, I gathered few more 'Rahmaniacs' as well to go for the event. 23 January 2016- the event date at Coimbatore, CODISSIA grounds. This particular date is personally an important date for me and hence was a double delight. The anxiety, enthusiasm was building up day by day and we being Rahmaniacs reached very early at the venue since I already heard from friends who attended the concert at Chennai that even the sound check was one awesome feeling to be not missed. I had goosebumps since the time I reached the venue. Blaaze was out there while we eagerly waited to entered the venue(Lakshmi Narasimha Vijaya Rajagopala Sheshadri Sharma Rajesh Raman is his actual name! Thank God for the stage name!) While we were waiting, there were rehearsals and sound check going on. A treat for the ears and everytime ARR would correct an artist or request a technician to adjust the strings the crowd burst in loud cheers.
The program which was scheduled for 6 pm began as late as 7.15 pm. It was totally worth it though the same ad of the partnering groups was rerun the whole one hour!! Like a fellow Rahmaniac commented 'we follow RST (Rahman Standard Time)' The dust because of the overcrowding, long wait without water, the push and pull to be in the front rows..nothing mattered at all. 7.20 pm, the VJ announces his grand entry. The whole crowd went berserk and I was quiet since it was sorta a shock that yes he is finally right infront of me!! Just a few meters away!! My mind went blank when he started signing and I had tears of joy! A true fan can definitely understand what that moment felt like. He very soon started chatting with the crowd. For the man of few words who let his work speak for himself we were all overwhelmed. The time he took to introduce his team after each performance was indeed wonderful. The master piece of the program that I loved was when SPB, Srinivas, Karthik, Vijay Prakash,ARR came together for one performance of a old number
The next best being ARR's performance of Dilse!
What a night it turned out to be! We were only asking for more and more as it was progressing and there wasn't one song that was a low performance sort! I was screaming, dancing, jumping on chairs the whole time inspite of a terrible sore throat. 2016 thus began for me on a awesomest note!!
One dream come true to be etched in memory always. My respect, love, adoration for him only grew multi fold after this program.
Thank you Sir! _/|_
