Friends- The wonder world!
While I was taking a little bit of time to pen down what next, it was more a challenge since I had too many things in my head.
I strongly believe in this quote which I read somewhere..The world's poorest man is the one who doesn't have friends. For me, a friend is another extended relation, more a family! I have been lucky to find some true Gem of people who were part of my life, helping me and cheering me in all my ups and downs. From my previous blogs, it's now quite clear that I am talkative, so yes, I have a bigger circle of Friends.
Every single person whom you meet in life has something to teach you- Good or bad..So I never hesitate to put on a smile when I see someone new. They always add colors to my life. Though my friends are a whole lot, and I still keep making new friends, I have an amazing circle of 4 who have been close to me and are still my wonderful and true extended family.
I do not recollect exactly at which point of time or which instance we became friends. I had been in the comfort of studying in one school throughout, from my Kinder garden to my secondary education. When it came to the choice of pursuing my higher secondary I decided finally to move out of the comfort zone. Surprisingly I did not leave the place, where I had spent 12 years of my life, with a heavy heart. I was rather looking forward to the 'new environment' with much enthusiasm. 12 years of my life had been in a Convent, and now in my higher secondary I moved to a Government Aided school. Whola! never realized it was going to be a culture shock for me.
Day one, I came to the new school, with neatly plated hair on two sides, neatly ironed new school uniform, shoes. I enter the class and something is amiss. I see none of the girls have plated hair, rather they have their own hairstyles. No one dares sit next to me, and well, I happily sit in the front row. I could hear girls seated in the next rows, giggling. I knew they were making fun of my plated hair. I so wanted to turn back and say 'People, I am new to this place, never knew higher secondary had a different rule and your school doesn't have a diary for me to refer' Did you notice that I just mentioned 'your' school? Yes, so I am not happy.
After some classes, there was a break, and I did not want to leave my dear seat. A pretty girl with a really long hair came over and sat next to me "Hi, I am Ramya" she said and then I introduced myself. She came to my rescue, taught me the 'manners' at the school. She introduced me to a new group- Yamuna, Vidhya and few more.
Days went by, and me, Ramya, Yamuna and Vidhya became very good friends. Higher secondary came to an end and by then we were all bonded well, with the families of each other as well.
The crucial and critical time of pursuing our graduation started. All 4 decided to pursue Commerce. With much drama all 4 of us made it to the same college..
Classes started and day one- we met Cynthia Charles from higher secondary in our batch! And so a wonderful journey started. This blog wouldn't suffice if I have to write about the 3 golden years we had together, every minute and every second together. As I am writing this there are so many things, so many wonderful moments that keep passing my mind and yes, it does bring a smile to my face..
Group studies- during the rainy days, one chilli parotta shared by 5, one coffee shared by 2, the long walks around the campus with all the laughs, the movies at home and at theatres, the 3.30 pm outing to X cross cut road, Palakkad trip, the silly fights and the calls to follow..Wow..I lived my life to the fullest..
Years passed by, and its 8 years now since we have all created that wonderful thread of Friendship. There has never been an event in any of our life's were each of us has not been part of it. Yes, few got married, we all moved to different places, but the wonderful thread still continues.. I doubt if we can make this happen with any other relation. At least not for me. I am thankful that I met these Gem's in my life whom I will treasure forever. Well, I guess moving out of my comfort zone in the first school did work wonders for me! And it kind of helped me take things positively- cause the friends I made since then have been showing a wonderful world around me, even more beautifully painted by them for me.. :-)
